Hi Violet
ReplyDeleteDo you know we did exactly the same chore at our house yesterday but we did not find any birds nests? Perhaps because we were only trimming the lower limbs of our shelter trees.
I agree with your family, birds are incredibly clever at making their own nests. I always find it interesting to see the variety of natural materials they pull together to make create their wee homes. Do you think the birds put the leaves inside the first nest to make a comfy base?
Was there any sign of birds eggs or babies?

Hi Violet,
ReplyDeleteI ca make a connection with your post as our son cleaned our flue and dragged out 3 nests! One was a tunnel shape and very dense and quite heavy. It was fascinating. Just as well we didn't light the fire! What materials has the bird used to make the nests you found? You could try a piece of writing- What Is The Nest Made Of- Threads of cotton, five fluffy feathers, etc.
Give it a go!

Hi Violet,
ReplyDeleteBirds nests fascinate me too. I wonder how they are so clever to find materials that make a strong structure and soft things to make it comfortable? Do you think you could re create your own birds nest or even a bird shelter?
